Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Maryland just opened a new exhibit in my birthday this week.

Ties of our Common Kindred was such a lovely exhibit with so many artists.

We enjoyed it on Sunday in the rain. No photos allowed inside so I took some of the walking trail and grounds as the snow finally began to melt.

This tree is so beautiful. I have to stop and enjoy it every time we visit.

The squirrels are eating well. With the additional 6-10” of snow and ice they are able to leap up and over the baffles. I’m not fighting them. They earned it. The snow will melt one day and they’ll be back to being baffled.

I remember this story because of my Dad. He walked out of the house and found his young son digging a random hole on the property. No plan, poorly equipped, but enthusiastically digging. He stood there asking questions, not judging. Supporting the dream.

Simple dinner cooked to perfection

We made one of our favorite, easy dinners tonight. Easy Sheet Pan Chicken Recipe with Chickpeas, Cumin and Turmeric

One thing I’ve added is to drain and roll the chick peas around on the sheet pan with paper towels to remove the skins and dry them out. This helps to make them crispier when they cook.

It turned out perfectly tonight. One of the few times my finished dish resembled the recipe photo.

Tree removal

We had a neighbor’s tree top blow down in a recent wind storm. It’s an old locust tree and started to rot and get hollow near the top.

It’s been sitting across our neighbor’s fences for a week while I found a tree place to take care of it.

Today, it was chopped up and turned into a fine mulch. Not sure what the neighbors are going to do with their respective chain link fences but that’s not my problem to solve.

I spent the evening junk journaling with my wife while we listened to a playlist of “90s one hit wonders.”

I’m not sure it could be a one hit wonder list if a band appears more than once. Looking at you, Local H.

I find junk journaling therapeutic and peaceful. A no rules creative exercise.

I have spent the last few weeks laying the groundwork for a Data Lake in AWS. It’s been exhausting and leaned heavily on AI because when your small company is ALL IN on AI, you get AI tools instead of humans.

So you use what you have to get the job done. Now we get to the exciting phase of “does any of this actually work in the real, production world?” I am anxious about the entire thing, while my leadership team is ready to pop corks and celebrate.

It’s certainly given me a greater understand of where AI can assist in technical projects and where it absolutely falls on its face. And it does, fall on its face early and often.
