I wrote an API spec for work. Today I ran it for the first time and we got real data back.
Is the Android app eating my posts?
Roman Mars walks into a bar and holds up two fingers.
The waiter brings him 5 drinks.
He was using Roman numerals. ✌️

Another look at the turbulent video game industry. It’s amazing any games get made with the instability, uncertainty and chaos of an industry where you are only as good as your last game.
📷 We have a small desk in our house. It is where the plants live. My wife has carefully tended to this small plot of desk. Dutifully watering, tending, maneuvering the plants there. It’s a small, thriving green space that’s brought us much solace and joy.

Listened to the audiobook. Absolutely loved it!
ATTENTION EVERYONE! I AM LOOKING FOR LOVE! I WILL CONTINUE HAMMERING ON METAL UNTIL I FIND LOVE! THANK YOU!

My wife repainted our downstairs bathroom this color. Starless Night.
And all I can think about is how it may blind enemies and provide over shields to my allies.
The name is absolutely perfect. It looks like a starless sky. Especially once we add gold accents to it.
So out of the blue my wife says to me,
“………so the thing about this serial killer romance………”
Just a very normal Monday over here. 📖 🔪 💕
Wife’s sister was given tickets to the Capitals game tonight. She invited us to go and we had a blast. Great night to see our team win convincingly.
Also the first event of any size my wife and I have attended. We wore masks most of the game. The local mandates are over. But it still feels weird being around so many people.
Micro.blog shares a space with my Tumblr use of yesteryear. I see it as a stream of neat people. I forget there’s a whole blog I could be using too.
Someone in my life has crappy parents One of them reinforced that crappiness today with a “10 Things To Love About” that could have not been more generic.
My wife and I send a 10 Better Things To Love" lists.
Kind words are free. Meaningful kind word are priceless.
I’ll be sure to tell him.

MoviePass is back — and it wants to track your eyeballs
“I love product placement in movies,” Spikes said. “I love the cars, I love the watches, I love the clothes. I’m that person that sometimes has a notepad and I’m writing down, is that Hugo Boss?”
🗒Avoid MoviePass.
📸 Robins having a pool party. They make me want a hot tub.

The American Robins were out in the yard this morning.
This has given me hope.
Woke up this morning to a hawk high up in the trees being harassed by a Blue Jay screaming it’s head off next to the hawk.
I assume the Jay was telling everyone else, “Hey! There’s a hawk up here!”

Do these not sound similar?
No, you played Stardew Valley until 2am with your wife and her sick sister to keep her company from afar.
We joked about an all night gaming session then suddenly looked up. And it was 2am.
This is a hazard of gaming with those west of you by a few hours.

🎙️Podcast listeners, where are you listening to podcasts?
What app are you using? Is there something you like about it or is it simple intertia?
I’ve been using PocketsCasts forever (because it’s cross-platform) and am curious what else is out there that people like.
Monday Morning Sys Admin - Google Mail and 3G End-of-life
-
Move personal domain email from Google back to Dreamhost. I was grandfathered into their Google for Domains plan and with them ending it, even with the stay of execution, the writing is on the wall so I’m going back to my own domain and own host.
-
Got email about my 3G modem on my rooftop solar installation being discontinued early. Requested my installer swap out the modem for a 4G modem and worry about it again in 2028. There’s apparently some way to move the responsibility to my home network, but that’s one less thing I have to manage and remember exists.
📺 The Silent Sea on Netflix. Superbly paced, Korean scifi on the moon.
Don’t say no, make an unreasonable demand
“If you’re going to quit, make an unreasonable demand. What would you want in your dream world?” This is slight variation on the technique in some negotiation training circles known as “Never Say No”. Smart people understand that “no” is a dead end. Worse, it’s a sour dead end. It piles up negative feelings against a brick wall where they fester. It’s better to use a “no” moment as a chance for redirection.
Why you should have a blog (and write in it)
Writing is a way of sharing knowledge and a way to increase opportunities for learning to other people.
If you notice, the internet of today is basically made of a couple of big websites that try to gather every content there is. Have you ever talked to an older person that thinks Facebook IS the internet? Yes, that’s exactly what I am talking about.
“If everybody starts to create their own website, we will start the long and essential process of taking back the control of the Web: the Web is ours to use it as we like, and not to be controlled by half dozen of mega industries with their opaques algorithms.”
Origin of teetotaler
Turner, a member of the Preston Temperance Society, who, having an impediment of speech, in addressing a meeting remarked, that partial abstinence from intoxicating liquors would not do; they must insist upon tee-tee-(stammering) tee total abstinence. Hence total abstainers have been called teetotalers. Source: Wikipedia
