Bask in the glow

Wife: you don’t have to take a picture of every one you see. Me: yes I do! It’s my scavenger hunt for fiscal irresponsibility.

A distinctive angular vehicle (cyber truck) is parked outside a building under a cloudy sky. The cyber truck is nearly the same color as the building.

A cluttered room corner with a filled white shelving unit, objects on a windowsill, artwork on walls, and a filing cabinet to the left.

White shelving unit with various items displayed, near a staircase and a window with blinds, in a home interior.

Our Billy Bookcaseses (three tall ones with extension) to the right and a Vihals sideboard.

Replacing old metal racks for art supplies and thrifting side gig.

For my next trick, placing rectangular Billy bookcases into a house that is anythingg but rectangular.

A full rainbow arches over a wet suburban street lined with houses, reflecting on the road after rain, beneath a cloudy sky.

A majestic double rainbow from earlier today.

The difference in cheers when Leon Marchand swam the breast stroke is hilarious and so fun!

Every time he surfaces a huge roar goes up. #olympics

Olympics Opening Ceremony Time!

Watching it live on the US East Coast. Will be rebroadcast at 7:30pm tonight as well.

Rugby is an aggressive game of keep away. 🏉 #Olympics

Olympics!!!

Time to watch everything!

I’ve been having fun watching the athletes on TikTok roaming Paris and sharing their lives with us.

More athletes need to put their country / event n their bios so I can find them and cheer them on.

Watching Rugby now. Fiji is FAST! 🏃💨

Sorting through 25,000+ photos. Trying to determine their actual creation dates using ChatGPT to help me write bash scripts to sort them and tag them properly.

Down to about 700 photos left.

Feels good getting these into one place. Next step is to remove duplicates using Digikam for Linux.

I took a little nap this afternoon and when I woke up me up, my wife looks over at me and says “in the maybe 30 minutes you were asleep, Biden has stepped down.”

So that’s happened. Now do we get to see Kamala savage Trump in a debate?

Sitting on my couch with my wife watching Noah Kahan play Fenway Park. 🎸🎹🎻

Days like this I don’t miss working in IT at the user support level. But there’s also a shared camaraderie that comes from replacing the same file over, and over and over and over again and getting people back to work that’s satisfying as it is mind-numbing. #Crowdstrike

Had a marvelous time in Amsterdam. Taylor Swift puts on an incredible night of theater. The Van Gogh museum was excellent!

Then I came home to a cold and tweaked my back which kicked up my sciatica. Everything in balance I suppose.

I told my wife I felt like a tottering old man. She said I think it’s doddering. Like daughter with a d. So I looked it up and she’s right.

Doddering is for old me. Tottering is for structures like a teeter totter.

Want to make a scene look futuristic? Add dirigibles. Want to make a scene look European? Add light rail.

An ornate red brick building with turrets stands behind a street intersection with tram lines and a blue tram.

Flew all night. Starting the day off right. Even if 9am feels like 3 am. #Amsterdam

Two waffles on a yellow table, one topped with white cream and chocolate, the other with caramel, accompanied by wooden utensils.

A waffle topped with whipped cream and syrup, with a wooden spoon, rests on a yellow table, suggesting a casual outdoor eating setting.

Trees cast long shadows on a sunlit grassy park with a clear, partly cloudy sky and a person walking in the distance.

We had a good day thrifting yesterday in Frederick, MD. The tulip tea pit and cows on a couch pot came home with us. The rest remain for others seekers of whimsy.

A ceramic teapot shaped like a perched bird amidst various household items on a table at a thrift shop.

A hand holding a decorative teapot with figurines, of a bow holding a teddy bear as the spout and a woman wearing a dress with its ribbons as the handle in a thrift store.

A white teapot with a decorative tulip-shaped handle and a small hummingbird figure sits on a thrift store shelf.

Ceramic cow figurines knitting together on a shelf among various decorative items, including a pig in a bath tub, gum ball machine and a pink glass basket.

A blue, rectangular sign with the text “If you don’t want a sarcastic answer, then don’t ask me a stupid question” rests on a shelf, amidst various objects.

Star Trek is my favorite world to live in.

I’m sad to see Discovery come to an end. I will miss this crew.

Sitting at lunch with my wife swapping tales of our work days. She’s running therapy groups for memory care and dementia. I’m trying to coerce a chat bot to follow directions.

We are both having one sided conversations with someone/thing prone to making things up.

Enjoy some evening birdsong from Maryland.

Birds: American Robin, Gray Catbird, Northern Cardinal, Chimney Swift

I’m starting to go through my massive collection of photos from the past 20 years from various exports. Picasa. iPhoto. Google Photos. I’m using digikam to remove duplicates and couldn’t open the trash folder to empty it.
Found the folder on the operating system.

28,429 items totaling 29.2 GB
Oh.

Screenshot of a folder showing 28,429 items totaling 29.2 GB of duplicate photos.

My sister-in-law law has invited us over to sing karaoke with her and her son and it’s hilarious.

They have a battery powered microphone and they cast Spotify do the TV and use the lyrics it provides (as needed).

It’s hilarious and so much fun. Highly recommended.

Returned from vacation directly into the waiting arms of news a friend I’ve played Destiny with for nearly a decade had a heart attack and died this afternoon.
